Rumored ex-Marine John Murtha, Democrat congressman from Pennsylvania, has become the darling of the cut-and-run crowd for trying to place absurd restrictions on our troops, amounting to withdrawal from Iraq. Were Arab sheiks whispering into his ear?
In case you missed the video on “I Love the ‘80s,” Rep. Murtha was caught on tape negotiating bribes with Arab sheiks during the FBI’s Abscam investigation in 1980. The Abscam investigation was conducted by Jimmy Carter’s Justice Department, not right-wing Republicans.
On tape, Murtha told the undercover FBI agent: “When I make a f***in’ deal I want to make sure that I know exactly what I’m doing and ... what I’m sayin’ is, a few investments in my district ...” "more...:

I have good news for everyone offended by the description of Sen. Barack Obama as 'articulate.' He has quickly shed any claim to that label. Indeed, Obama's remarks this week about American troops killed in Iraq were a bumbling, incoherent mess. You may now refer to him officially as the Inarticulate Barack Obama. (As for judging his current level of cleanliness and brightness, you know that's Joe Biden's milieu.)
At one of his opening presidential campaign events on the Iowa State University campus this weekend, Obama pandered energetically to the anti-war crowd. With his smooth voice rising and thousands of fans goading him on, he proclaimed: 'We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized, and should have never been waged, and to which we have now spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.'
Yes, 'wasted.' Squandered. Pointless. Down the drain. Meaningless. Video footage of the speech shows Sen. Obama delivering his scripted words carefully and confidently. " more...

Call it a match made in Marineland. A trainer at the Niagara Falls, Ont., amusement park has captured the affections of a 365-kilogram, five-year-old female walrus.
Smooshi has been smitten with trainer Phil Demers since arriving at Marineland from Russia about four years ago.
Smooshi bonded with Phil Demers shortly after she arrived at the park as an 18-month-old walrus.
(CBC) It was his job to make the transition to her new home a comfortable one and he won the animal's heart by removing her from a medical exam room when she became frightened.
'She actually imprinted on me, so she recognizes my smell, my sounds, everything,' Demers told CBC Newsworld on Sunday. 'It's interesting in that she kind of sees me almost as a maternal figure, so it happened fairly immediately.'

Southern Ontario bracing for major winter storm

A winter storm warning has been issued for regions southwest of Toronto, while commuters in the GTA should be bracing for a heavy snowfall during the commute home.
Environment Canada is calling for between 30 and 50 centimetres of the white stuff to blanket Hamilton and Niagara Falls on Tuesday, while Oakville and Burlington could see a major dumping as well.
In Toronto, where temperatures called for a high of -12C but -26C with the wind chill, forecasters predicted 15 to 20 centimetres of snow when flakes begin falling mid-afternoon.
The weather system is being labelled the worst storm of the season. "
